The Ecopsychology Distance Learning Programme offers a bespoke 12 week learning opportunity for those interested in exploring ecopsychology theory.
It is being offered to answer the call from many people who would like to explore ecopsychology in a structured and supported way, but who don’t have the time or resources to attend a residential course or engage with longer, formal study.
A major part of the learning process will be to help you explore how you might apply ecopsychology to your own personal and professional life.
The programme may also be used to compliment your ongoing research or study in other academic or professional fields.
How it works
Each programme is offered over 12 weeks. If you complete one programme and want more, you can simply join the next one. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no pre-requisites for studying.
You will be given six, one-to-one personal tutorials and three group seminars over the 12 week period. During the first personal tutorial, a work plan will be agreed according to your specific needs and interests. In the seminars you will be able to explore your interests and make connections with the other participants. This may also provide a time to connect up with people in your area and form your own peer study group.
All tutorials and seminars take place via skype, with support by email. Resources will made available via Google Docs.
There is no formal assessment, although you may choose to undertake some written work – it’s up to you! If you do choose to write something, support and feedback can be offered.
What’s included
Each 12 week programme includes:
- six personal tutorials of one hour each;
- three group seminars of one hour each;
- a personal learning plan;
- access to a variety of online resources and reading materials and;
- email support.
Formal Validation
The programme is not formally validated. It is designed to offer you a personalised learning experience based on your own curiosity and passions, and fitted around your circumstances. If you feel you need validation, then this is probably not the programme for you!
True validation is about the usefulness of your learning in bringing ecopsychology into practice. There will be opportunities to focus on this during the course.
Tutor
The course tutor is David Key, who taught the post-graduate ecopsychology course at the University of Strathclyde / Centre for Human Ecology for seven years, and who now teaches the ecopsychology programme at Schumacher College in Devon.
