Nice. thank you David. I think, after the work on autopoesis and sympoesis, that t is looking increasingly likely that not only is "the ’emotional affiliation’ we have to other living organisms (is) ‘innate’" but it is central to maintaining the homeostasis of the planet. If living things move towards what is satisfying, and away from what is discomforting, then it is about their felt sense: if it feels good, they do it and it is pleasing. whether a slug or a scientist, how the organism feels is very central to its response and behaviour. the behaviour shapes the context, and so influences subsequent behaviour of that and other entities. thus thinner experience of an organism connects it to the whole. this "psychosphere" is probably as important as the atmosphere, biosphere (of which it is the inner dimension), cryosphere etc in homeostasis - yet utterly ignored in places like CoP etc. equally so in mainstream psychology, not least bcause it undermines Modernity's unquestioned assumptions of what it is to be a self..... hope you doing well in the madness ....maybe see you in Auckland later in the year. cheers.
